Julian Plenti - Julian Plenti Is... Skyscraper

Julian Plenti is a cut above the rest when it comes to solo artists. He is not someone who just happen to own Mac and that's about it, he has actually put programmes like Logic Pro to good use and since experimenting with the programmes vast potentials has opened many new doors musically.
Plenti originally started out playing acoustic shows at some very prestigious venues dotted around New York but bored with the limitations of the acoustic, he stopped in 2001. Now he's back and with an album full of lavishly layered songs, some were taken from his early acoustic days and re-worked with string arrangements and beats, featuring a host of contributions from other musicians you can tell this time out has been put his time to good use.
There is a huge variety of influences and songs can range from the straight up Interpol tinged Indie sounds of 'Games For Days' (which is apt because it actually features Sam Fogarino of Interpol on drums) to the jangly guitars and melodic synths of tracks like 'No Chance Survival' and 'Skyscraper.'
The songs that really grabbed me were the more 'electric' numbers such as 'Unwind' and opener 'Only If You Run' I did find myself skipping one or two of the acoustic songs.
