Hardly a surprise this one, though a deserved victory lap for a band who’ve always delivered pop songs – except this time the veil has been lifted, leaving an exceptional record with glorious emotional heft. ‘My Girls’ and ‘Brothersport’ may be the big hitters, but the tracks in between – the dreamlike euphoria of ‘Blueish’, the skyward rush of ‘Also Frightened’ – set the path for an album likely to become recognised as a miniature classic.
