Crystal Castles Feat. Robert Smith – ‘Not In Love’ (Fiction)

When ‘Not In Love’ was released on Crystal Castles’ second album earlier this year it was little more than a danceable electronic track with strange, martian like, vocoded vocals from Alice Glass. With this single release they have bolstered the song greatly with the addition of The Cure’s Robert Smith, a man who knows how to sing, especially about love. Smith’s vocals give this song a focal point to sing along to and something to relate to, two things that a good single needs that Crystal Castles songs generally lack. The final change from the original album version is to move the skyscraper synths, that were previously only at the end of the song, into the chorus making this song even more colossal and an undoubted floor filler.
